When you ask Robin Sacks what she does, with her brilliant smile and bright eyes, she matter-of-factly says, “I help people get out of their own way!” Hmmm, you wonder, what’s that? So you ask, “OK. What does that mean?”

In her first book, Get off my bus!, Robin answers that question. In her clear, user-friendly way, she helps us get clarity about who we are, where we are going, and why we do what we do. As she says early on, “Give me your hand…let’s go!” Robin then leads us down a path, with effective exercises along the way. For starters, we define what we do, who we are, and what roles we play. She’s right along side us, cheering us on, with stories and motivational – and sometimes humorous quotes. The focus is on being real and being in the now. For as Dr. Seuss says,”Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

We’re the drivers of our own bus. With enough clarity, we know who belongs on the bus, who we can let off, what buses we want to travel on, and where we’re headed. I’m grateful I met Robin in Ohio and traveled on her bus. Actually, we’re still on each other’s buses, albeit virtually. Say, Robin, maybe there could be a sequel? How to attract riders on my virtual bus?
